Perforce Software announced its acquisition of Snowtrack.
The acquisition marks a major milestone in Perforce's commitment to bridging the gap between technical and creative teams. By bringing an intuitive version control client—a standard part of software development—to artists and designers, Perforce aims to eliminate common collaboration challenges, allowing art teams to efficiently track and manage changes to files and projects.
P4 One (formerly Snowtrack) is now available for beta, and its launch is part of the evolution of Perforce's version control and collaboration suite, now called the Perforce P4 Platform. More than just a new name, the P4 Platform unifies Perforce's digital creation tools under a single, integrated ecosystem, empowering studios and teams worldwide.
"Companies in game development, semiconductor, media and entertainment, and automotive rely on Perforce P4 as their collaboration backbone but often struggle with getting more artists and designers to adopt version control—a crucial step for maintaining a single source of truth across projects and departments," says Brad Hart, Business Unit Vice President at Perforce. "Our vision for the P4 Platform is to enable collaboration across the many roles involved in developing technical and creative projects today. P4 One is a critical piece of this vision, as it delivers a seamless and intuitive versioning experience, while maintaining the performance and security studios expect from Perforce."
As globally distributed teams have become the norm, security, speed, and remote access are essential. With P4 One, teams can version locally at lightning speed and collaborate via P4 to share changes with the rest of their team.
P4 One is now available in closed beta. A full global launch is planned for later in 2025.
