Nutanix Partners with Red Hat
May 21, 2024

Red Hat and Nutanix announced an expanded collaboration to use Red Hat Enterprise Linux as an element of Nutanix Cloud Platform.

The Nutanix Cloud Platform provides a consistent cloud operating model with a single platform for running applications and data across hybrid multicloud endpoints. Nutanix delivers resilience with self-healing nodes, persistent storage natively integrated to best support modern application deployments, performance and capacity scale linearly. Additionally, the Nutanix Cloud Platform can help deliver cost efficiencies by eliminating unused compute and storage resources. The foundation of this platform is Nutanix AOS, which combines components of a traditional operating system with additional services and packages.

Through this expanded collaboration, Nutanix AOS will now build on the enterprise-ready innovation Red Hat delivers with Red Hat Enterprise Linux for traditional operating system capabilities. This enables Nutanix to focus on the novel intellectual property delivered by Nutanix AOS, providing a more consistent cloud operating model for running applications and data across hybrid multicloud endpoints.

Many of the fastest, most innovative high performance computing environments in the world use Red Hat Enterprise Linux as the standardized platform for underlying Linux management and maintenance tasks. By addressing these IT needs with the world’s leading enterprise Linux platform, technology teams are able to better focus on the operational tasks that matter, freeing up crucial resources to help deliver the innovations that make customers and end users more successful.

With an IT foundation established with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat customers can help realize key benefits such as:

- Direct access to enterprise-grade Linux experts specifically dedicated to the needs of a flexible, scalable Linux operating system.

- Enhanced stability for hybrid cloud infrastructure to help organizations more consistently manage and scale cloud-native workloads from on-premises datacenters to multiple public clouds.

- Access to trusted, security-optimized Linux to support greater resilience, with backing from Red Hat’s product security and security incident response teams to generate faster responses to potential security vulnerabilities.

As part of this extended collaboration, Nutanix will also contribute to CentOS Stream, working with Red Hat and the broader open source community on hypervisor functionality, networking and storage performance for emerging artificial intelligence (AI) workloads on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. By joining CentOS Stream, Nutanix will be able to contribute to and fuel future distributions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux to help accelerate the adoption of more performant applications on the Nutanix Cloud Platform.
