Bitrise Now Available to Open Source Projects for Free
September 05, 2018

Bitrise released a range of new features aimed at supporting mobile open source projects.

These include:

- A number of publicly accessible pages for the workflows, logs and more so these can be shared easily between and with contributors.

- Automatic secret filtering, ensuring that no sensitive information ends up on public pages.

- Forced secret use for sensitive inputs and public app pull requests for greater security.

The aim is to help open source contributors work together more efficiently, while speeding up the development process through the automation Bitrise offers all mobile app developers.

Additionally, new security features address the risks associated with open source development, like app secrets ending up in publicly accessible locations.

All open source code repositories that are added to Bitrise as public project by the user, will also receive an unlimited amount of monthly builds at a maximum of 45 minutes per build. Previously, this ability was reserved for users on the paid Developer Plan.

"At Bitrise, we love open source. We use a ton of open source products ourselves, have open sourced quite a bit of our code - including our library of third party integrations - and have been home to OS projects like DuckDuckGo for a while now. Today, we formalized our commitment to - and support for - the open source community going forward. Also, it beats manually adding free builds and build time for open source developers, what we were doing previously when someone asked," said Bitrise CTO and co-founder Viktor Benei.
