Enterprise Management Associates (EMA), a leading IT and data management research and consulting firm, released a new report titled EMA Research Findings: DevOps 2020 Top 3 and Innovator Award Announcement, authored by Stephen Hendrick, Research Director for Application Development and Management.
While a narrow majority of enterprises have embraced agile techniques, most enterprises are far from having a mature or comprehensive DevOps solution in place. DevOps is heading in many directions at once, making it difficult for enterprises and vendors to know how to define a winning strategy. Shift left, market consolidation, standardization, hybrid solutions, machine learning, DevSecOps, IT governance, and microservices are just some of the challenges facing DevOps vendors.
EMA’s DevOps 2020 empirical research identifies the current state of DevOps at large enterprises, buyer behavior over the next two years, and a DevOps maturity model, as well as provides a competitive analysis of selected DevOps market segments. This competitive analysis enabled EMA to identify the top three leading products and most innovative products across eight key DevOps markets.
“Despite demanding evaluation criteria, award winners included large established vendor products, best-of-breed products from mid-sized vendors, and a surprising number of open-source products from foundations and communities,” said Hendrick. “These are compelling characteristics of DevOps due to its wide scope and fragmentation, where for-profit economics and the power of community can coexist.”
EMA DevOps 2020 Top 3 product and innovation awards are based on rigorous evaluation criteria driven by customer experience. Nine categories were used to score each product.
- Product segment penetration
- Product design, architecture, and scalability
- Ease of integration and interoperability with other systems
- Useful features relative to other competing products
- Ease of deployment and use
- Ease of administration
- Cost relative to capabilities
- Vendor support, services, and reputation
- Product satisfaction
21 Top 3 Awards and 17 Innovator Awards spanning eight of twenty DevOps market segments are available in the report.
EMA’s DevOps 2020 awards are based on customer-driven evaluations of products currently in use. Evaluating product use, capabilities, and satisfaction provides a way to identify products that truly excel at supporting customer needs.
