Panzura announced the addition of Private Secure Site Mode to Panzura Freedom.
A private secure site is an installation with security restrictions that require absolutely no external communications. The Panzura Freedom Private Secure Site Mode disables all external public communications ensuring compliance with the most stringent security requirements.
By eliminating all communication with outside IP addresses, Private Secure Site Mode provides companies with total control over their stored data without risk of outside monitoring or attack. This enhanced security in the data center is increasingly critical for enterprises, as the average cost of a data breach is expected to exceed $150 million. Secure management of internal data is also a crucial requirement for businesses operating across regulatory environments, including government and military sites, as well as the healthcare, financial, and gaming industries.
“In ESG’s annual IT Spending Intentions Research the most commonly identified business initiative driving IT spending is improving cybersecurity. The security of your organization’s data has quickly become paramount. Panzura technology plays a key role in ensuring data security while simultaneously allowing organizations to maximize the value of their data.” said Scott Sinclair, Senior Analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group. “The ability to manage, store, backup, and recover data in a private environment while ensuring no communication with any public service or IP address is extremely valuable for government and heavily regulated industries.”
Private Secure Site Mode is the latest addition to the security benefits of Panzura CloudFS, the first enterprise file system purpose-built for the cloud. Private Secure Site Mode compliments Secure Erase enabling IT teams to completely remove all versions of specified files and folders from data center storage and associated objects stored in the cloud. Secure Erase is the highest level of data purge that can be attained without physical damage to disk drives.
“Private Secure Site Mode essentially implements an internal firewall that will ensure compliance with the toughest security requirements,” said Rich Weber, Chief Product Officer of Panzura. “While the cloud provider is responsible for security of the cloud, IT is responsible for security of the data in the cloud, so it is critical to choose a solution that can meet the security and regulatory compliance needs of the organization. Private Secure Site Mode extends our comprehensive enterprise file data protection, fulfilling the needs of our customers across all industries and government.”
Additional security features of Panzura CloudFS include:
- Encryption of data both in transit (using TLS 1.2) and at rest (using AES 256-bit algorithms)
- Encryption keys are generated, supplied, and controlled by the customer; the private key is stored at the client premises, not the cloud
- Data deduplication and compression before data is sent to the cloud, providing an additional layer of security by obfuscating the data
- Military grade security with FIPS 140-2 compliance
- Standards-based authentication methods for file access
Private Secure Site Mode is available now on Panzura Freedom 7.1 and is standard at no additional cost.
