Progress announced new powerful capabilities and enhancements in the latest release of Progress® Sitefinity®.
Code Intelligence announced a new feature to CI Sense, a scalable fuzzing platform for continuous testing.
The new feature, a testing overview dashboard, allows developers to monitor the performance of fuzz tests in real-time, including KPIs such as number of uncovered bugs, code branches tested, auto-generated inputs, code coverage, and unit test equivalents.
Code Intelligence allows developers to automate fuzzing, a testing technique that generates and injects invalid or unexpected inputs into a system to reveal bugs and vulnerabilities. With CI Fuzz, developers run fuzz tests locally as a command-line application, and with CI Sense, they check the results of all tests running in one dashboard in real-time.
A recent Java project analyzed by CI Sense found that one fuzz test was the equivalent of 309 unit tests, and achieved 74% code coverage within 25 seconds, with longer execution time resulting in even higher cover. On average, Code Intelligence’s automated fuzz testing allows developers to write 30% fewer unit tests, giving them more time to focus on developing new features and other tasks.
“With this new feature, developers using Code Intelligence can easily track and measure cost and time savings for unit tests. They can do less manual work and achieve higher code coverage,” said Werner Krahe, VP of Product, Code Intelligence.
CI Sense is delivering developers with:
- The server infrastructure and compute power to enable continuous testing
- A user interface to analyze test progress, optimize tests, and plan fixes
- The ability to collaborate in and across teams and access KPIs and reports
