Sylabs Launches Singularity Containers Certification

Sylabs announces the launch of a new certification focusing on the Singularity container platform.

Rooted in open-source SingularityCE, the Singularity container platform has become an indispensable tool for users in large computing environments practicing mission-critical data science, artificial intelligence (AI), compute-driven analytics, simulation, and high performance computing (HPC) related tasks.

Following Sylabs' previously released Singularity Containers 101 curriculum, the Singularity Containers certification aims to equip both professionals and students with advanced knowledge of container technology. The Singularity Containers certification spans 16 distinct sections, focusing on a theoretical understanding of the technology and the practical use of the platform. The knowledge shared with participants will include running containers, building images, converting Docker images to SIF, multi-stage builds, using Singularity Container Services, signing and verifying images, and more.

The Singularity container platform has become an indispensable tool for users in large computing environments practicing mission-critical data science, artificial intelligence (AI), compute-driven analytics, simulation, and high performance computing (HPC) related tasks.

Although the course is as streamlined as possible, potential participants should have a background in computer science with some Linux command-line experience. With the right background, professionals working in the industry and current students can expect to greatly enhance their skills in containerization workflows for large-scale environments.
