November 09, 2022

Puppet by Perforce announced the latest Long-Term Support (LTS) release of Puppet Enterprise.

The 2021.7 release gives teams enhanced functionality for managing compliance across multiple operating systems and cloud platforms while offering performance and efficiency improvements, empowering companies to take their business beyond the status quo.

“Now more than ever, developers, IT and security operations professionals are facing complexity as well as a talent shortage in the industry. Automation with compliance in heterogeneous environments is essential,” said Gene Hall, VP of Product Management at Perforce. “Our latest LTS release further simplifies infrastructure complexity while delivering enterprise-grade capabilities to help our customers strengthen their security posture, compliance standards, and business resiliency in the data center and the cloud.”

This LTS release brings customers a stable, secure, and more auditable Puppet Enterprise environment with the additions of lockless code deploy, support for enhanced patching actions, and single sign-on via SAML 2.0 integration. The ability to run pre- and post-patching steps offers users fine-grained control and flexibility in orchestrating patching runs to meet organizational requirements.

Highlights for Puppet’s customers include:

- Reduced compliance risk with expansion of FIPS-compliant options

- Improved encryption and security features with additional role-based access control (RBAC) functionality and multifactor authentication (MFA)

- Robust reporting visibility and support for additional platforms

- Performance improvements in query execution and disk efficiency

- Puppet’s Long-Term Support releases are recommended for any customers who require minimal change to their environment.
