VictorOps Releases Live Call Routing Feature Using Twilio Functions
August 15, 2017

VictorOps announced the successful implementation of Live Call Routing, a new feature for critical incident management.

Live Call Routing is built using Twilio Functions, a serverless environment for building and running communications applications via the Twilio Platform. With Live Call Routing, VictorOps users now have the ability to dynamically connect inbound support calls with the right response teams in real time.

Twilio Functions provides a serverless environment for developers to build and run Twilio applications so they no longer need to navigate the complexity of setting up, configuring, managing, and scaling web infrastructure to get to production faster. This service saves weeks of development time and expenses, while enabling teams to deploy new features with minimal infrastructure, cost, and support. The program eliminates much of the friction that product development teams face when building new products.

“VictorOps has been waiting for Twilio Functions to launch, and we’re thrilled to debut Live Call Routing as part of this program,” says Joni Klippert, VP of Product at VictorOps. “This implementation provides the most flexible and customizable version of Live Call Routing in the market. Leveraging Twilio Functions allowed us to very quickly bring a new feature to market, with limited developer time and at the lowest cost possible to our customers.”

To take part, developers provide Twilio with Node.js code for handling their communication events, such as an incoming phone call, and Twilio executes this code on their behalf, ensuring a seamless communications experience.

“The developers and businesses building cloud communications apps should be focusing on the customer experience, not managing servers,” said Patrick Malatack, Twilio VP of Product. “We designed Twilio Functions to handle all the necessary compute resources a developer needs in order to focus on innovating, iterating, and shipping new applications faster than ever before.”

VictorOps now provides Live Call Routing to customers more flexibly and at a fraction of the cost of other Live Call Routing solutions on the market. To get access to the feature, VictorOps customers sign up for a Twilio account, purchase a phone number, fill out the configuration steps in the VictorOps Function template, and click ‘Create.’ The feature supports several configuration options, including basic call routing, phone tree routing, and live call or voicemail routing.

Twilio Functions is now available as a public beta. Live Call Routing is now available to all VictorOps customers.
