Progress announced the launch of Progress Data Cloud, a managed Data Platform as a Service designed to simplify enterprise data and artificial intelligence (AI) operations in the cloud.
env0, a developer of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) management software, announced the availability of its new open source solution for Terraform users, Terratag.
Terratag allows users of the popular IaC framework to streamline time-consuming resource tagging processes by enabling the automatic creation and maintenance of tags across an entire set of AWS, Azure, and GCP resources. Licensed under Mozilla Public License v2.0, Terratag is currently the only public automated tool that removes the manual burdens and constant re-auditing needed to organize infrastructure resources. Terratag also provides increased visibility into cloud costs and offers a more efficient way to define and share best practices for tagging, labelling, and backtracking cloud usage.
“While collaborating with our customers that use Terraform, we quickly understood the cost and possible errors that result from manual resource tagging,” said Omry Hay, co-founder and CTO, env0. “We decided to automate this task, and make it freely available. Our hope for open sourcing Terratag is that it will foster new learnings and additions to streamlining the tagging process, and provide ease-of-use in infrastructure-as-code environments.”
DevOps has simplified many aspects of software development but developers often still have to submit support tickets to provision resources while building new applications and services. The reason for the delay is lack of automation, governance and inefficiency in the resource tagging processes, which results in missing or incorrect cost information and a lack of correlation to problematic deployments. With Terratag, DevOps teams and individual developers can focus on other critical projects, staying in control of their infrastructure, effectively managing cloud costs, and improving product development time. Terratag also helps ensure a clear and consistent tagging standard within organizations, ensuring that new compute and storage resources are used efficiently and existing resource policies are continuously updated.
Terratag is currently available to all Terraform users.
