OutSystems announced the general availability (GA) of Mentor on OutSystems Developer Cloud (ODC).
Skyport Systems released Skyport Hybrid Cloud Edge, a new set of functionalities within Skyport’s signature SkySecure system that is designed for more effectively managing and deploying policy for hybrid cloud applications.
Skyport’s Hybrid Cloud Edge solution allows network architects to retain control of security and visibility into their hybrid cloud environments, while providing DevOps speed, agility, and ability to delegate application policy where it belongs, with the app owners themselves.
Skyport’s approach is based on deploying application gateways in secure microsegmented compartments versus trying to manage policy at the firewall. This gateway approach allows for the separation of network and application policy such that enterprise networking teams can still manage connectivity while application developers or line of business teams are responsible for the app policy. Equally important, it allows for much tighter security and audit controls, but at a level of agility that supports DevOps style deployment.
With the dramatic increase of hybrid cloud environments, companies are left exposed to uncontrolled application deployment that is tapping directly into the core of their infrastructure, putting the entire environment at risk. Skyport Hybrid Cloud Edge breaks this paradigm by putting the responsibility for policy in the right place and managed by the right people.
“Our customers are rapidly adopting cloud infrastructure, but are frustrated by the speed that is possible with their existing environment,” says Art Gilliland, CEO of Skyport Systems. “Skyport’s Hybrid Cloud Edge Solution empowers the accelerated adoption of cloud services while significantly reducing risk by putting the responsibility for policy definition and enforcement in the right place. Our goal is to make application connections easy and secure from cloud-to-ground.”
Skyport Hybrid Cloud Edge empowers network teams to delegate policy management to application or line of Business owners without the risk of policy-based outages. This shared responsibility increases innovation and speed while improving accountability and visibility into the connection between existing data centers and the new cloud services.
The new solution provides microsegmentation services specifically architected to enable policy orchestration for Hybrid cloud enterprises in order to deliver the following features and competitive advantages:
- Policy “self service” for Increased speed of innovation and deployment for DevOp teams
- Application specific microsegmentation swim lanes to avoid policy drift and limit blast radius of mistakes
- Enhanced visibility and audit capabilities into the traffic that cloud connections make into the datacenter
- API driven automation and orchestration enabling scale out and integration into existing workflow
- Cloud delivered “Shared Responsibility” for infrastructure monitoring, maintenance and patching
By improving the security and reducing the complexities of managing the policy between on-premise and cloud infrastructure, Skyport Hybrid Cloud Edge solution is able to mitigate the security risks when deploying new applications, speed time-to-market, and help accelerate the move to cloud.
Skyport’s SkySecure system delivers a turnkey hyper-converged solution that combines secure computer, virtualization, and network security controls to run critical applications, like Microsoft Active Directory, with less complexity and greater peace of mind.
