HPE Launches Containerized Version of ITOM Suites
April 12, 2017

Hewlett Packard Enterprise Software (HPE) announced the launch of containerized versions of its HPE IT Operations Management (ITOM) offerings.

These suites – Hybrid Cloud Management, Data Center Automation, Operations Bridge, and IT Service Management Automation – help enterprise IT customers manage their private and public cloud infrastructure, and deliver new services at scale in response to the rapidly changing needs of business partners and DevOps teams. Deployed with built-in, open source container technology from Docker and Kubernetes, the four suites are expected to receive quarterly enhancements that provide customers with the latest innovations in real time to dramatically reduce time to value.

The new container deployment foundation built into the suites provides IT teams with industry-leading deployment, update and scale-out capabilities. Customers will be able to rapidly deploy and upgrade to the latest analytics-driven ITOM suites in a matter of minutes on a variety of platforms including bare metal, virtualized, private and public cloud infrastructures. As a result, customers can minimize upgrade risk and downtime, while maximizing IT resources by scaling on demand.

“The world of IT Operations is experiencing unprecedented growth and complexity,” said Tom Goguen, VP and GM, IT Operations Management, HPE. “IT organizations need to be able to respond to business needs and deliver results quickly, while managing regulatory and operational compliance. Over the past year, we have revamped our portfolio by moving away from point products to integrated solutions, and are delivering new innovative capabilities such as analytics and ChatOps on a quarterly basis. Our new containerized suites simplify the day-to-day operations and deliver unprecedented time to value, enabling ITOps to run at the speed of DevOps.”

In addition to building container technology into the DNA of the new offerings, the HPE IT Operations Management suites have also added a number of features to help organizations deploy and manage their container-based applications at scale, with the same familiar tools.

ITOM’s four suites and the key container lifecycle capabilities include:

- Hybrid Cloud Management – Manages a wide array of hybrid and multi-cloud environments with application pipeline automation and compliance capabilities. The new version enables the service design and deployment of new container-based applications, including ready-to-consume development testing environments and rapid application releases.

- Data Center Automation – Automates tasks and orchestrates processes for provisioning, patching and compliance features. The new version delivers container, hardware and host operating system provisioning with compliance capabilities.

- Operations Bridge – Integrates with existing tools to provide automated event reduction, root-cause identification and business service modeling. The new version improves speed and responsiveness of operations teams by enabling the monitoring and troubleshooting of container infrastructure and applications.

- IT Service Management Automation – Simplifies the ordering, administration and maintenance of IT Operations. The new version provides analytics-driven service management, as well as automated discovery and configuration management to support container-based applications.

The container deployment foundation-based versions of IT Service Management Automation, Operations Bridge, Data Center Automation and Hybrid Cloud Management are available now with updates expected to be delivered on a quarterly basis.
