New Partners Join Heavybit
September 27, 2016

Heavybit, a program that helps startups take developer products to market, announced the addition of Dana Oshiro as General Partner.

Oshiro joins existing Managing Director Tom Drummond to further build Heavybit’s advisory network and support developer product companies in their go-to-market strategy.

To support Heavybit’s growing portfolio, Heavybit has also announced Chef and Velocity Conference Founder Jesse Robbins and Librato Founder Joe Ruscio have joined Heroku Founder James Lindenbaum as Part-time Partners.

As Part-time Partners, the trio will regularly work with the founders of new and prospective member companies both to increase the value of Heavybit members and to grow Heavybit’s portfolio of over 30 developer product companies.

“There’s a right way to take developer products to market and it’s tough and evolving,” said Drummond. “That’s why we’re excited to add partners with deep domain expertise and recent wins in developer companies. It’s their timely and industry-specific advice that we hope will mold the next Twilio or New Relic.”

New Partners:

- Dana Oshiro, General Partner: Since joining in 2012 as Director of Programs, Oshiro has helped build Heavybit’s curriculum, operations and team. In the past she has held positions at Code from America, Heroku and Salesforce while also contributing to tech publications ReadWrite and VentureBeat. As a General Partner she’ll continue to support member companies and drive Heavybit’s curriculum and advisory network.

- Jesse Robbins, Part-time Partner: Robbins is founder of Orion Labs, Chef and the Velocity Conference where he helped ignite the DevOps movement. He is widely recognized for helping transform the way companies like Amazon, Facebook and Google manage complex systems and infrastructure. His experience creating successful companies, building large developer communities, and growing startup revenues have already been helpful in advising Heavybit companies.

- Joseph Ruscio, Part-time Partner: Ruscio was a founder and CTO of Librato, a Heavybit alumni company that was successfully acquired by SolarWinds. He was a key contributor to all aspects of the business and from inception responsible for product vision, development, operations, and customer success. He now runs development and operation of multiple SaaS developer products at SolarWinds. Ruscio has been a long-time contributor to the Heavybit community and brings in-depth experience in go-to-market, scaling organizations and fundraising.

Since launching in 2012, Heavybit has worked with 32 developer startups including Stripe, PagerDuty, CircleCI and a number of other rising developer companies. The program accepts members on a rolling basis and those interested in applying can visit heavybit.com/program for more details.
