Mobile Labs Adds Support for TestPlant
September 01, 2016

Mobile Labs announced support for TestPlant's eggPlant Functional tools for both Android and iOS devices.

Engineers running eggPlant tests can now test, share, and collaborate using Mobile Labs’ deviceBridge to connect mobile devices hosted in the deviceConnect cloud, which supports both manual and automated testing on real mobile devices.

"The immediate needs and high-quality requirements imposed by the digital transformation requires rapid app delivery and high app quality,” said Don Addington, President and CEO of Mobile Labs. “Device cloud services can increase developer velocity while also improving app quality through comprehensive, automated testing."

Support for eggPlant further enhances deviceConnect's market-leading support for leading mobile app development and test automation tools. deviceConnect's rapidly expanding list of supported frameworks now includes developer tools such as Xcode and Android Developer Studio, DevOps and continuous integration tools like Jenkins, and the leading mobile app test automation tools including HP's UFT, IBM's Rational, Appium (Selenium), Tricentis, SOASTA, Experitest’s SeeTest, Calabash, and most other mobile engineering tools that ordinarily use USB-attached devices.

"The unique benefit of deviceConnect with deviceBridge is the ability to provide access to cloud-based devices where they formerly could not be used," said Addington. “In many cases, engineers are limited to one or two devices they have on the desk or must wait their turn to get one or two real devices in hand. deviceBridge gives them instant access to a large number of cloud-based real devices, eliminating wait times and making it possible to improve the quality of digital experiences on the widest possible variety of devices.”

With the new eggplant support, deviceBridge connects devices hosted in a deviceConnect cloud to either the eggPlant iOS Gateway or eggPlant Android Gateway and those devices can then be used within the eggPlant tool suite for either manual or automated testing.

deviceConnect, a private device cloud provides secure remote access to mobile devices for managed use by developers and testers, enabling automated continuous quality integration and app delivery, DevOps processes, as well as automated and manual app/web/device testing. With deviceBridge, an extension to deviceConnect, many test automation frameworks and many developer tools used for checkout and debugging can retain cloud-based devices as if locally connected by USB. For such tools, deviceBridge serves as a “virtual USB cable” connecting cloud-based device(s) to a local laptop or server over Ethernet (LAN or WAN).
