Load Impacts announce its newest feature: Performance Thresholds.
Engineers can now set thresholds for specific metrics in their tests — such as page load time or failure rate — and configure a test to report as failed if a threshold is passed.
The binary status of Pass/Fail metrics serves DevOps teams integrating performance testing in their Continuous Delivery and Continuous Integration flows.
“Everything we’re building at Load Impact fits neatly in the DevOps and Continuous Delivery methodology,” said Robin Gustafsson, Load Impact CTO. “Developers are shipping software faster than ever, and Load Impact is designed for people to easily understand their applications’ performance throughout the development cycle — especially when they’re constantly committing code.”
With pretty much every performance test, engineers have certain results in mind when it comes to the performance of their application. Performance thresholds allow Load Impact users to zero in on important metrics and judge results based on what they care about most.
Pass/Fail status will also be shared in every Load Impact notification that users receive when a test is complete, so dev teams can react the minute their test has failed.
“With development teams scaling up their performance testing practice, thresholds and notifications become very valuable,” Gustafsson said. “An early notification that your application can’t handle an expected number of concurrent users could end up saving your company a lot of money in the long run.”
