Solo.io is donating its open source API Gateway, Gloo Gateway, to the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) to further its mission of building a complete omni-gateway connectivity solution.
Diagrid announced the public beta of Catalyst, which extends open source Dapr beyond Kubernetes to include major cloud compute platforms – making it easier to create microservice applications.
Catalyst, a fully-managed Dapr service, addresses issues with cloud-hosted APIs that meet the needs of modern developers. Developers can tackle the hardest problems in distributed systems by using APIs for durable workflows, pub/sub, service discovery, and state management. Catalyst enables DevOps and platform teams the convenience of connecting to their existing infrastructure while also providing the option of using a serverless, Dapr-compliant state store and message broker. For developers, Catalyst delivers microservice architectures with 50% less code, makes zero-trust security a requirement and ensures applications are durable and fault-tolerant.
“Diagrid is the first to offer open source Dapr APIs as a service and the first to enable developers to expand Dapr’s use to any cloud compute platform,” said Mark Fussell, co-creator of Dapr and CEO, Diagrid. “With Dapr delivered as a fully-managed service, developers can now harness Dapr's capabilities on their cloud platform of choice and vastly reduce the amount of code and effort needed to build complex microservices that are secure and reliable by default.”
With Catalyst, developers can leverage Dapr on AWS compute platforms such as Elastic Container Service (ECS), Lambda, and Fargate, as well as on Azure Container Apps, Google Cloud Run, Vercel, Cloudflare and others.
Developers interested in exploring Catalyst can access its full range of features for free.
