Broadcom announced the general availability of VMware Tanzu Platform 10 that establishes a new layer of abstraction across Cloud Foundry infrastructure foundations to make it easier, faster, and less expensive to bring new applications, including GenAI applications, to production.
Docker and MuleSoft announced a new partnership that enables customers to modernize their applications and unlock data to innovate faster than ever before.
Together, MuleSoft and Docker are making it easier to containerize, modernize and connect mission critical applications and data, fundamentally increasing speed and agility for customers to move to the cloud, deliver new competitive advantage and achieve digital transformation.
“MuleSoft’s mission is to help organizations change and innovate faster by making it easy to connect the world’s applications, data and devices,” said Greg Schott, CEO, MuleSoft. “By partnering with Docker, we’re making it easier for our customers to leverage their existing infrastructure investments as well as take advantage of new technologies in an application network to meet changing business demands.”
Whether they are SaaS-delivered or home-grown, applications are the lifeblood of any business. And, it’s often the existing legacy applications that manage some of the most mission-critical data and processes, and ultimately play a role in delivering business differentiation. The Docker Enterprise container platform unlocks the full potential of these existing applications by modernizing them through containerization – without changing code – making them more secure, agile and portable across clouds.
“Companies across all industries adopt Docker Enterprise to enable a hybrid cloud strategy for their mission critical legacy applications. In doing so, our customers realize significant cost savings, choice as well as security and agility,” said Steve Singh, CEO, Docker. “In partnering with MuleSoft, our mutual customers will now have access to data from any system, enabling them to use Docker Enterprise to build a wide range of innovative applications that help them better understand and serve their customers.”
By combining MuleSoft’s Anypoint Platform with Docker Enterprise, applications are easily integrated with data and systems across the enterprise, enabling organizations and the millions of developers already familiar with Docker to create the next generation of cloud native applications and experiences.
Specifically, this partnership will deliver new capabilities for mutual customers in three areas:
- Legacy applications that have APIs, when modernized with Docker Enterprise, will be able to immediately plug into the customer's application network built with MuleSoft. This drives greater reuse and collaboration, while securing and managing applications through Anypoint Platform.
- For legacy applications without APIs, MuleSoft and Docker will deliver a set of resources – including automation tools, blueprints and starter packs – for customers and partners to containerize and modernize these applications more quickly and effectively.
- New applications created in Docker will be automatically securable, accessible and discoverable from Anypoint Platform. As each new application exposes new services in the customer’s application network, organizations benefit from greater reuse and agility, while also improving developer productivity.
Through this partnership, customers will reduce complexity, lower costs, and move towards a modern microservices architecture that allows them to deliver new products and services faster than ever before.
Salesforce Ventures has invested in Docker, further scaling the company’s ability to help organizations accelerate digital transformation and cloud migration by modernizing legacy applications and fueling developer innovation in new applications. This investment also creates greater alignment between MuleSoft and Docker, allowing both companies to better serve joint customers.
