Basis Technologies Introduces ActiveControl 8.0
April 24, 2019

Basis Technologies introduced ActiveControl 8.0, the latest upgrade to the company’s DevOps automation solution.

ActiveControl 8.0 helps businesses become more agile and competitive thanks to a range of new features that improve the quality of SAP change and accelerate delivery of innovation. Key developments include a powerful rules-based approval engine, enhanced DevOps analyzers, an improved web-based user interface, support for cloud-based ABAP development and an air gap solution for secure SAP environments.

Crucially, ActiveControl 8.0 and Testimony are designed to support one of the biggest challenges facing businesses that run SAP: the transition to and adoption of SAP S/4HANA. This is reflected in the fact that they are both SAP Certified for S/4HANA and Netweaver.

“ActiveControl 8.0 demonstrates our commitment to making it easier for SAP users to run their businesses. Listening to the needs of our customers has enabled us to develop new features that provide more power and control than ever,” said James Roberts, CTO of Basis Technologies. “What’s more, SAP Certification means users can be confident that ActiveControl and Testimony will seamlessly integrate into today’s SAP landscapes, and those of the future.”

Removing manual effort pays dividends in terms of both cost reduction and risk to production systems, so ActiveControl 8.0 introduces a versatile, extensible new rules engine that further automates and accelerates SAP change approvals, allowing creation of sophisticated and flexible approval workflows. The rules engine can be combined with ActiveControl’s existing Dual Maintenance functionality to ease transition to SAP S/4HANA, and amplifies the benefit of other approval enhancements introduced in version 8.0.

Active Control 8.0 also delivers even greater support for the concept of ‘shift left’ - critical to DevOps – via enhancements to its suite of out-of-the-box analyzers. New analyzers combine with improvements to existing essentials like Deep Impact Analysis, providing the most comprehensive way to ensure quality and control risk at every stage of development. In addition, as more and more SAP teams start to adopt new ways of working and take advantage of the latest technologies, integration with the Eclipse IDE supports those looking to include cloud-based ABAP development in their workflows.

A new Air Gap Solution, first demonstrated in 2018, is now fully incorporated into ActiveControl, supporting industries where security is paramount, such as aerospace and defense.

The new version of ActiveControl also provides an updated browser-based user interface (‘web UI’) and a range of other automation features, such as extensions to Transports of Copies functionality, integration with HP Service Manager and enhanced management of custom fields, that further streamline SAP change management workflows.

ActiveControl 8.0 will be generally available in May 2019.
