Actian announced the general availability of its newly released DataConnect 12 integration platform, demonstrating a continued focus on ease of use for complex data integration and data quality.
Actian’s DataConnect integration platform is a versatile, hybrid integration solution that empowers anyone to integrate anything, anywhere, anytime. With its emphasis on reuse, adaptability, and self-service integration, the DataConnect platform enables rapid onboarding and delivers accelerated time to value. With this latest product release, Actian is introducing new functionality for data quality, enhanced scheduling and automation, and the availability of additional software development toolkits (SDKs) to improve development integrations.
“As data becomes more critical for business decisions, simply having data integrated will not be enough,” said Emma McGrattan, Senior VP of Engineering at Actian. “Decision makers need to trust the data, and for that, they must have a way to ensure that their data is clean, consistent, and standardized.”
This next generation of Actian’s DataConnect integration platform features two major areas of enhanced capabilities: data profiling and automation.
This release debuts the new Data Profiler feature which provides a rules creator and engine, enabling customers to use the same user interface and interactions in the current version of the DataConnect platform to determine the quality of any given data set. This ensures that data pipelines are not just integrated, but standardized and accurate. Users can include the Data Profiler capability as part of their current data integration pipelines or as separate processing jobs. The Data Profiler feature allows users to apply rule sets and generate charts to visualize their data quality. These charts allow users to drill into specific problem areas that need to be addressed, such as identifying missing or non-standardized data, misformatted data, and duplicates in data sets. Users can drag and drop rules into workflows using the intuitive user canvas or use the command line interface to enable more customization and embedding.
Actian’s DataConnect 12 integration platform also extends its capabilities in automatic map transformer functionality, allowing users to have more control over mapping data transformations between source and target data sets. In addition, new automation features invite users to create and store pre-built business rules sets and reuse common data quality rules when profiling new data.
Lastly, Actian’s new DataConnect 12 integration platform permits users automatically to convert connectors directly from existing maps, giving easy access and use of the latest connector technology for their integration projects. This low-code functionality also enables users to migrate entire databases quickly and easily to new sources as business needs change.
Adding enhanced data quality and automation features to this new release of its DataConnect platform, Actian is also releasing updates to two of the most popular SDKs and will host these on GitHub for its DIY users. The updated DataConnect platform SDK enables automation of the entire life-cycle from generating designs to monitoring execution, and the DataConnect platform’s MCF SDK embraces a powerful extensibility plug-in framework for custom connectivity, transformation, and custom processing.
“Actian’s DataConnect integration platform is built with decades of innovation, developing an enthusiastic and loyal customer base,” said McGrattan. “We have made upgrading to the new DataConnect 12 platform easier than ever, providing import utilities to aid customers on older versions, and for customers on our current release, there is almost no effort needed. This latest release will also provide new capabilities and accelerate integration scenarios for our customers using our Avalanche Hybrid Cloud Data Platform.”
Other key features in Actian DataConnect 12 integration platform include:
- Java upgrade (11.0.12+7)
- New and enhanced connectivity for RabbitMQ, JSON enhancements, and connectors for common enterprise applications
- Multiple UX improvements, including bulk editing, improved filtering, more robust search capabilities, and connectivity field level controls
