Redgate Partners with CEI
May 22, 2018

In a move that further demonstrates the increasing adoption of database DevOps, Redgate Software has reached a partnership agreement with IT services provider, Computer Enterprises, Inc. (CEI).

Redgate has spent the last two years expanding and enhancing its software portfolio to enable users to introduce DevOps to database development. By plugging into the same infrastructure already in place for application development, Redgate tools stop the database being a bottleneck, reduce errors, and speed up deployments.

Pittsburgh-based CEI is similarly inspired about the advantages DevOps can bring to the database. A Microsoft Gold Partner for over 14 years, it has multiple competencies across applications, DevOps, cloud and data. With offices throughout the US, it offers consulting, custom software development, and managed services to clients ranging from the Fortune 50 to smaller regional firms.

The database is increasingly entering the conversation, as Chris Wootten, DevOps Senior Solutions Account Executive at CEI, explains. “We help a lot of clients introduce DevOps to their software development process and if there’s a database at the back end, it’s often a concern. DevOps speeds up development and enables new features and changes to be released faster. If the database isn’t included, it can hold releases back and prevent businesses reaping the full benefits.”

This is where Redgate enters the picture. Redgate has been developing SQL Server tools for over a decade and more than 100,000 companies now use them, including 91% of those in the Fortune 100. The tools typically resolve difficult, complex, or time-consuming database development issues, often by automating them, and enable databases to be included in DevOps processes like version control, continuous integration and automated deployments.

Importantly, the tools integrate with those used for application development like Team Foundation Server, Git, TeamCity, and Octopus Deploy, so databases can be developed alongside applications.

“And this is where CEI enters the picture and why we are so excited they are joining the Redgate Partner Program,” explains Cassandra Lloyd, Partners Manager at Redgate. “Introducing each step of the DevOps process, whether for databases or applications, calls for a change in the way developers work. The Solutions team of Microsoft-certified architects at CEI has over 20 years of experience in helping clients build better software through the introduction of practices like DevOps.”

By addressing the different needs and demands of business management, software development, and IT operations, CEI enables software to be developed and deployed in a way that delivers advantages right across the business.

Becoming a Redgate partner means it now has the inside track on product development at Redgate and access to Redgate’s worldwide customer base. CEI joins Redgate’s growing worldwide network of partners which supports customers in Europe and the Asia Pacific as well as North America.
